Staining Kit: Verhoeff - van Gieson (VVG Elastica)
The VERHÖFF staining solution in which the tissue is immersed contains hematoxylin, which binds with elastic fibers and stains them black. Iron(III) chloride serves as an oxidizing agent and leads to differentiation between elastic and other fibers. Van GIESON microfuchsin is an acidic staining solution that stains collagen and muscle tissue red.
The staining allows elastic fibers to be differentiated from other tissues and provides important information about the structure and pathology of the tissue under study. It is a standardized process used in clinical diagnostics as well as in research.

Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations
Verwendung:
VERHÖFF van GIESON (VVG Elastica) staining kit is a special in vitro diagnostic solution used for the identification and examination of elastic and collagen fibers as well as marked nerve fibers. The combination of VERHÖFF staining solution, ferric chloride, Van GIESON microfuchsin and ethanol allows precise staining of connective tissue to visualize possible changes or damage. This staining is widely used in pathology, histology and research to better understand the structure and function of elastic fibers in various tissues.
Prinzip:
The Verhoeff-Van Gieson (VVG) Elastica staining kit is a histological staining method used in in vitro diagnostics to distinguish different tissue and cell structures. This technique is based on the binding of staining components to tissues, with Verhoeff stain staining elastin fibers black and Van Gieson microfuchsin solution staining collagen fibers red. Ethanol serves as a solvent and dehydrating agent, while ferric chloride is an oxidizing agent and allows specific binding to elastin. This staining technique can effectively differentiate and analyze various tissue structures, including the assessment of vessel walls or connective tissue in tumors.
