Staining Kit: Congo Red after PUCHTLER
In use, the kit is used for staining tissue and cell samples. The alkaline saline solution increases the pH of the Congo red stock solution, resulting in improved binding of Congo red dye to amyloid. Scott's solution and Mayer's acidic hematoxilin are used for post-staining and contrasting.
Use of the staining kit results in specific visualization of amyloid. The amyloid stains red and shows a green coloration in polarized light. This allows clear identification and differentiation of amyloid from other tissue components.

Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations
Verwendung:
The staining kit Congo Red according to PUCHTLER is a special in vitro diagnostic solution for the visualization of amyloid deposits. By using this solution, amyloid deposits can be reliably visualized as red stained structures and appear as green in polarized light. This special staining provides a simplified method for identifying and examining amyloid deposits that can occur in various diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease.
Prinzip:
The Congo Red staining kit according to Puchtler is based on the use of different solutions to visualize tissue or cell structures in in vitro diagnostics. The acidic hematoxilin solution stains cell nuclei blue, while Scott's solution provides a buffer for this staining. The alkaline saline serves as a wash for excess stain and aids in the penetration of the Congo Red stock solution. Congo Red stains amyloid deposits red, indicating structural changes in tissue samples that are relevant in various diseases.
