Staining Kit: Hematoxylin-Eosin (H&E)
The Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) staining kit is one of the most commonly used staining kits in histology and histopathology. It enables the visualization of cell nuclei, cytoplasm and extracellular structures in tissue samples and is therefore an important method for the analysis of cell and tissue structures in research and diagnostics.
The H&E kit consists of two main components:
1. Hematoxylin: This dye stains cell nuclei in a blue to purple hue. Hematoxylin binds to basic structures, such as DNA and RNA, making it particularly suitable for visualizing cell nuclei and nucleic acids.
2. Eosin: This dye stains the cytoplasm and extracellular structures in various shades from pink to red. Eosin binds to acidic structures such as proteins and is therefore well suited to visualize the cytoplasm of cells, collagen fibers, and muscle tissue.
The H&E staining kit provides a quick and easy way to stain tissue sections and allows assessment of cell morphology, tissue architecture, and pathological changes. By combining hematoxylin and eosin, both cell nuclei and cytoplasm are visualized in a single stain, facilitating examination of tissue samples and identification of structural changes.
