Eosin 0.5 %, alcoholic 90 %, acidified
Eosin 0.5%, alcoholic 90%, acidified is a solution containing the synthetic dye eosin (tetrabromofluorescein, molecular formula: C_20H_8Br_4O_5) in a 90% alcohol solution with a concentration of 0.5% and additionally acidified with an acid, such as acetic acid. This acidified eosin solution is mainly used in histology and cytology to stain cell structures and the extracellular matrix. Eosin has a high affinity for basic structures such as proteins and typically stains them pink or red.
Acidifying the eosin solution with acetic acid affects the staining kinetics and quality. Acetic acid is a weak acid that lowers the pH of the solution. The decrease in pH increases the binding affinity of eosin to basic amino acids such as lysine and arginine in proteins. This results in sharper and more differentiated staining. In addition, acetic acid accelerates the staining process by promoting the penetration of the dye into the tissue.
The 0.5% alcoholic acidified eosin solution is thus a powerful option for histological and cytological applications. Verwendung:
Eosinfärbelösung dient nach einer Kernfärbung mit Hämatoxilin zur Gegenfärbung von Proteinen, Bindegewebe, Fasern und Keratin. Zur Färbung werden Abstrichpräparate, Gefrierschnitte, Dünnschicht-präparate, oder Paraffinschnitte verwendet. Die Färbelösung ist ausschließlich für die professionelle Anwendung als in-vitro Diagnostikum im histologischen bzw. zytologischen Labor vorgesehen. Die Färbelösung Eosin 1%ig, alkoholisch kann einzeln oder in Kombination mit Hämatoxylin (z. B. Artikel-Nr.: 10231) in der H&E-Färbung angewendet werden.
