Formalin-free fixatives are innovative solutions for the fixation of histological and cytological specimens in laboratory applications. They offer a safe alternative to conventional formaldehyde, a hazardous substance whose use requires strict safety requirements and whose limits have recently been lowered. An example of such an alternative is MorFFFix®, developed by MORPHISTO in collaboration with Biosepar. This fixative chemically produces the same fixing reaction as formaldehyde, but leaves no free aldehyde groups in the solution. As a result, MorFFFix® enables efficient and reliable fixation of samples while ensuring the safety and health of workers. These formalin-free fixatives are ideal for use in histology, cytology and specific laboratory applications.
