Toluidine Blue - Pyronin Solution
Toluidine blue pyronine solution is used in histology and pathology, especially for staining and examination of various cell types and tissue components. Due to its specific staining properties, it is used to highlight cell structures and enables the identification of cell nuclei, cytoplasm and other subcellular organelles.
The operation of the toluidine blue pyronine solution is based on the combination of the two dyes toluidine blue and pyronine G/Y dissolved in an aqueous base. Toluidine blue binds to acidic structures, such as nucleic acids, and stains them blue, while pyronin G/Y binds preferentially to RNA and stains it red. The presence of sodium tetraborate decahydrate in the solution acts as a buffer and stabilizes the pH of the solution for optimal staining conditions. Filtering of the solution using top filters with a pore size of 0.2 µm serves to remove impurities and undissolved particles.
The suitability of the toluidine blue pyronine solution for histological and pathological applications stems from its ability to stain various cell structures clearly and with high contrast. The different stains allow differentiation of cell nuclei, cytoplasm and other subcellular organelles, which is essential for precise analysis and identification of various cell types and tissue components. The solution is thus suitable for a wide range of applications in histology and pathology and can be adapted to the specific requirements of different examinations.
