SAFELINE Sorbit Gelatine
SAFELINE Sorbitol Gelatin is an important medium in medical and scientific laboratories for glycerol-free mounting of specimens for nuclear, metachrome or lipid staining. The mixture of sorbitol, a sugar alcohol (C6H14O6), gelatin, a protein molecule complex, aqua bidest and benzalkonium chloride (C27H42ClNO2) forms a stabilizing matrix.
Sorbitol acts as a humectant, whereas gelatin acts as a plasticizing and gelling agent. Together, they create a protective, moisture-retaining environment for the samples. The added benzalkonium chloride provides additional antimicrobial activity.
Use of this formulation enables precise, high-quality staining and analysis of specimens. Specimens embedded with SAFELINE sorbitol gelatin retain their integrity and structure for a longer period of time and allow for improved visual presentation during microscopic examinations.
