SOERENSEN’s Buffer pH 7.0
Sörensen buffer with a pH of 7.0 is an important solution in many biological and biochemical experiments and applications. This buffer, also known as phosphate buffered salt solution (PBS), is often used to stabilize the pH in biological systems.
The buffer consists of a mixture of sodium hydrogen phosphate and sodium dihydrogen phosphate. By changing the relative concentrations of these two components, the pH of the solution can be adjusted.
A pH of 7.0 is close to the physiological pH of many organisms and cells, making this buffer particularly useful for experiments and applications that require mimicking natural conditions. These include, for example, cell culture, histological staining, immunoassays and many other in vitro applications.
