Oxalic Acid 5 %
The 5% oxalic acid solution has multiple applications. In histology, it is used as a decalcifier to remove calcium deposits in tissue specimens, while in cleaning and surface treatment, it is used as a rust remover and to remove calcium deposits.
In metallography, the 5% oxalic acid solution is used for electrolytic polishing of high-alloy steels. It etches various alloys such as Mg, Mg-Al, Mg-Al-Zn, Mg-Mn, Mg-Th-Zr, and Mg-Zn-Zr, allowing visualization of grain sizes. Electrolytic polishing with oxalic acid improves the surface quality and structure of metallic samples and facilitates subsequent analysis and characterization of the materials.
