Kit: Silver nitrate 5 % ammoniacal (with NaOH)

Kit: Silver Nitrate 5 % ammoniacal (with NaOH) is a carefully formulated ingredient for sophisticated histological staining procedures. It is preferred for use in techniques such as silver impregnation that require precise visualization of fine structural details. The main component, silver nitrate, in combination with ammonia, forms the complex [Ag(NH3)2]+, which allows specific interaction with certain tissue structures. The addition of sodium hydroxide solution makes the environment alkaline, resulting in increased sensitivity of silver impregnation. This can result in differentiated, high-contrast images that greatly enhance the histological picture. Overall, this product allows detailed examination of specimens and can be used in a variety of in vitro diagnostic applications.

Verwendung:

Silver nitrate solutions stain by impregnation and are suitable for the detection of lattice fibres, very fine connective tissue and neurofibrils. The impregnated tissues show a deep black or dark brown colour.

Prinzip:

Silver nitrate is a salt of nitric acid. The use of silver nitrate to produce lattice fibres has been known since 1904 and has developed into the most important method for the production of argyrophilic fibres. Impregnation is based on the reduction of silver nitrate to pure silver, which precipitates on the fibre. Many methods involve toning with gold chloride (art. no.: 11134). In this process, metallic silver is converted into silver chloride and pure gold is precipitated.
