Hematoxylin after LILLIE
Hematoxylin according to LILLIE is used as an in vitro diagnostic agent and is particularly suitable for the identification of basophilic structures in tissue sections. The combination of the components enables reliable, differentiated staining. Oxidation of hematoxylin by sodium iodate leads to the formation of hematein, which forms complex compounds in combination with aluminum ammonium sulfate dodecahydrate. These complexes show high affinity for acidic cellular structures, such as DNA and rough endoplasmic reticulum. Binding to these structures produces an intense blue coloration. Glycerol and acetic acid improve the stability and homogeneity of the stain. By using the hematoxylin solution according to LILLIE, it is possible to clearly visualize and analyze basophilic structures, allowing precise histological evaluation. Further application protocols and detailed information can be found on the given website.
