Goldchloride 0.1 %

Gold chloride solutions are used in histology as a reducing agent for staining and visualizing neurons and nerve fibers. It is mainly used in silver plating methods (Bielschowski, Gomori, Golgi, Fontana, and others) to visualize neurons and their processes, such as dendrites and axons.

Gold chloride binds to and reduces silver compounds applied to tissue specimens during the staining method. This process results in the formation of visible silver grains that adhere to neuronal structures, allowing visualization of neurons and their connections. The resulting prepared tissue sections can then be examined under a microscope to analyze the morphology and arrangement of neurons and their processes.

Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations

Verwendung:

Gold chloride 0.1% solution is intended for in vitro diagnostics in histology. It acts as a reducing agent for staining and visualization of neurons and nerve fibers in various silver plating methods (e.g. Bielschowski, Gomori, Golgi, Fontana). Gold chloride reduces silver compounds applied to tissue samples, creating visible silver grains that adhere to neuronal structures. This allows visualization of neurons and their connections, which can be analyzed under the microscope to study the morphology and arrangement of neurons and their processes.

Prinzip:

Gold chloride 0.1 % is used in in vitro diagnostics for staining tissue or cell structures. The functional principle is based on the reduction of gold ions (Au³⁺) to elemental gold (Au⁰) at the binding sites in cell structures, resulting in visible staining. Binding occurs mainly to sulfhydryl- and amino-group-containing biomolecules, such as proteins. This allows selective visualization of specific cell components and facilitates the differentiation of tissue types and cell structures in microscopic examinations.
