Formalin/glacial acetic acid fixation
Formalin glacial acetic acid fixative is a solution used in medical diagnostics, histology and scientific laboratories. This solution is excellent for preservation and fixation of biological specimens, especially tissues, cells where shrinkage should be kept low.
The solution consists formaldehyde and acetic acid in aqueous mixture. Formaldehyde, an aldehyde with the chemical formula CH2O, acts as a fixative that cross-links and stabilizes protein structures. Acetic acid a carboxylic acid with chemical formula CH3COOH, acts as a co-fixing agent in this mixture and prevents post-mortem autolysis of tissues and mainly counteracts shrinkage caused by the formalin.

Verwendung:
Bei der Fixierung werden alle in der Zelle ablaufenden Prozesse unterbrochen, unter möglichst optimaler Erhaltung des Zustandes und der Struktur des Gewebes. Biochemische Prozesse wie Autolyse, Verwesung und Fäulnis werden wirkungsvoll verhindert. Fixierlösung nach Stieve eignet sich zur Fixierung von Hodengewebe und Eierstockgewebe. Die Fixierlösung ist ausschließlich für die professionelle Anwendung als in-vitro Diagnostikum im histologischen Labor vorgesehen.
