BOUINs reagent (4 % formaldehyde)
BOUIN's solution is an established and universally applicable fixing solution of picric acid, formalin and glacial acetic acid. It is particularly suitable for tissues with a high water content and allows high-contrast and brilliant staining of histological sections. The solution has a decalcifying effect. Fe & Ca ions are chelated, erythrocytes are lysed. IHC representations are possible with antigen masking.
