Trichloroacetic acid sublimate formol according to ROMEIS
Romeis trichloroacetic acid sublimate formol is based on an aqueous base and contains sublimate solution, trichloroacetic acid and formaldehyde as main components. This fixing solution is used in histology for the fixation and preservation of tissue specimens.
The chemical functioning of the solution is based on the fixing properties of trichloroacetic acid, formaldehyde and mercury dichloride. Trichloroacetic acid denatures proteins and forms stable covalent bonds, while formaldehyde forms aldehyde groups with proteins and nucleic acids, preserving the spatial structure of cells and tissues. Mercuric dichloride, the main component of the sublimate solution, acts as a strong fixative, helping to preserve cell structures and membranes by inducing protein cross-links.
The special suitability of Romeis' trichloroacetic acid-sublimate-formol solution lies in its rapid fixation and preservation of the morphology of tissue specimens. It allows good visualization of cellular structures and facilitates subsequent processing of specimens, such as sectioning and staining procedures. This solution is particularly suitable for histological examinations where detailed visualization of cellular structures and preservation of the spatial organization of tissues are required.
