Sulfuric Acid 10 %
Sulfuric acid 10 % is mainly used in analytics and metallography and serves as a reagent for numerous chemical reactions, such as the production of salts or esters. Its reactivity with other substances enables quantitative and qualitative analysis of samples to determine chemical properties and constituents.
In metallography, it is a preferred component of etchants. It reacts with the surfaces of metal samples to reveal microscopic structures such as grain boundaries or phase differences, which is of great importance for material characterization.
In addition, sulfuric acid 10% is used in the Baumann method to study sulfur distribution in steels. By dipping photographic paper into the diluted sulfuric acid, a so-called sulfur imprint is produced, which visualizes the distribution of sulfur in the steel.
