Potassium dihydrogen phosphate 0.066 mol/l is specially suitable for the preparation of buffer solutions, and forms one of the two components for Sörensen buffer solutions. The main components of this solution, is potassium dihydrogen phosphate.

Sörensen buffers are important buffer systems and consist of a combination of weak acids and their corresponding bases. This solution, containing potassium dihydrogen phosphate, is mixed with another solution, usually containing disodium hydrogen phosphate, to make a Sörensen buffer. The different concentrations of the two components determine the resulting pH of the buffer solution.

The solution is suitable for preparing Sörensen buffer solutions in different pH ranges. The chemical stability of the solution enables a reliable buffer effect even in complex chemical systems.

Possible application results of this buffer system include the stabilization of biochemical and enzymatic reactions, cell culture media as well as analytical procedures such as titrations and electrophoresis.
