HBS-Buffer 2x Concentrate

HBS Buffer - 2x Concentrate, a specialized buffer solution, is used in a variety of laboratory applications, especially in cell culture and molecular biology. Due to its composition, it can mimic the cellular environment and maintain stable pH.

HBS stands for HEPES-Buffered Saline in English. HEPES (4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazineethanesulfonic acid) is an organic buffering agent widely used in biological and biochemical research fields to maintain the pH of solutions. Salts, such as sodium chloride and potassium chloride, are common components of such buffered salt solutions.

The product is characterized by a high buffering capacity provided by the contained substance HEPES. Sodium chloride, potassium chloride and sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate help maintain osmotic conditions, while D-(+)-glucose serves as an energy source.

Chemically, the buffering effect of HEPES is due to its ability to absorb or release protons, which contributes to pH stability. Due to its dual concentration, the concentrate can be diluted in experimental setups to meet specific conditions.
