Gum Mastic, alcoholic
The alcoholic Gum Mastic solution, better known as mastic, is made from denatured ethanol and gum arabic. It serves as a key component in staining kits such as lead nitrate 1%, GENTA staining for Helicobacter pylori and STEINER silver plating according to CHAPMAN. Its viscous property and chemical stability make it an ideal binder and carrier for other chemical substances. In these applications, mastic serves to homogeneously distribute the components of the staining kits and to promote the interaction of the chemical components. In doing so, the alcohol-based Gum Mastic solution enables improved visibility and more intense staining of microscopic specimens by supporting the adhesion of dyes and reagents to the specimens. This results in a high-quality staining process that enables improved visualization and analysis of microscopic structures.
