Staining Kit: Melanin Detection after SCHMORL

The SCHMORL Melanin Detection (B) staining kit is specifically designed for the histopathological detection of melanin in tissue sections. It allows precise visualization of melanin, a pigment produced mainly by melanocytes in the skin, hair and retina.

The reagents included in the kit are based on the Schmorl method, which utilizes the ability of melanin to reduce ferric chloride and potassium ferricyanide to form a blue-black color complex. This reaction results in the oxidation of melanin and the subsequent formation of the blue-black complex, which is visible microscopically.

This staining kit is a valuable tool for visualizing the distribution of melanin in tissue samples, especially in the diagnosis and study of melanoma and other melanin-containing tissue lesions.

Verwendung:

The SCHMORL Melanin Detection (B) staining kit is used for in vitro diagnostics and histopathological detection of melanin in tissue sections. It allows precise visualization of melanin, which is mainly found in skin, hair and retina. The Schmorl method is used to form a blue-black color complex that is visible microscopically. This kit is a valuable tool for the diagnosis and investigation of melanoma and melanin-containing tissue changes.

Prinzip:

The SCHMORL melanin detection (B) staining kit is used in in vitro diagnostics for the identification and visualization of melanin. This detection method is based on chemical reactions in which the individual components interact specifically with melanin and other structures in the tissue or cells. The potassium ferricyanide(III) and ferric chloride react together to form iron pigments that bind to melanin and stain it blue-black. The Van Gieson Pikrofuchsin solution stains collagen-containing structures red, while the acetic acid stabilizes the staining and regulates the pH to ensure optimal reaction conditions.
