Staining Kit: FOUCHET-Staining
Chemically, the kit consists of a solution of ferric chloride, trichloroacetic acid and Van GIESON microfuchsin. Ferric chloride acts as an oxidizing agent, while trichloroacetic acid serves as a protein precipitant. Van GIESON microfuchsin is used to differentiate collagen fibers, muscle tissue and cytoplasm, which are stained red and yellow, respectively.
The use of the FOUCHET staining kit can result in detailed and high-contrast histological images that allow accurate diagnosis and investigation of liver disease.

Instructions / Protocol / Recommendations
Verwendung:
FOUCHET staining (bilirubin) kit consists of ferric chloride, trichloroacetic acid and Van GIESON microfuchsin and is used for staining food samples. The main purpose of this kit is in vitro diagnostic and special staining for the detection of bilirubin by oxidative conversion of the gall pigment into biliverdin and cholecyanin. This process produces various shades of green staining. For better differentiation against the tissue, a staining according to van GIESON of the collagen fibers (red), muscle tissue and cytoplasm (yellow) is connected.
Prinzip:
FOUCHET staining is a laboratory diagnostic procedure for the specific visualization of bilirubin in tissue or cellular structures. Ferric chloride reacts with bilirubin to produce a green complex that serves as evidence of the presence of bilirubin. Trichloroacetic acid creates an acidic environment in which bilirubin remains stable and also exerts a preparative effect. Van GIESON microfuchsin serves as a background stain - it adds contrast to the preparation by staining collagen and muscle fibers reddish. In in vitro diagnostics, this staining kit enables the differentiation and identification of bile pigments and the investigation of liver diseases.
